ADNAN TURANI (Istanbul, 1925)
He was educated at the Istanbul Teachers’ School. From 1941- 1944 he participated in evening courses at the academy. After graduating from the Ankara GEE Painting-Work Department in 1948, he enrolled in the Munich Academy of Fine Arts and studied the works of French Nagel, at the Stuttgart Academy, and the works of Henninger and W. Baumeister. Later on he worked with H. Trökes in Hamburg until 1959. His painting style was directly affected by Trökes.

Upon a sequence of color procedures complementing each other, he processes and enriches the mysterious essence of nature, which carries the possibilities of transcendentalism in an abstract analysis. From one painting to the other he explores the dimensions of the visual dynamism. He likes to stroll at the border where paint transforms into color, and emphasizes the fact that the form of painting is open to eternal possibilities.

Selected Awards: In 1971 the 32nd, in 1974 the 35th DRHS (Success Awards), in 1991 Ankara Art Institution (Artist of the Year Award), in 1993 Simavi Foundation (Visual Arts Award).
