HALIL AKDENIZ
(Antalya, 1944)
He graduated in 1965 from GEE Picture-Work
Department. He went on to obtain his
bachelor’s and master’s
degree from the Berlin State Academy
of Fine Arts where he studied from 1968-1974.
He completed his master’s education
at the Aegean University Faculty of
Fine Arts, and his studies of qualification
in art and doctorate at D.E.Ü.G.S.F.
He began working in 1978 at the Aegean
University as an assistant. He became
assistant associate professor in 1986,
and a full professor in 1994. He worked
as an instructor at Bilkent University
Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture
between 1987- 1994. He was the Cultural
Consultant at the Republic of Turkey
Bonn Embassy in Germany from 1996-2001,
and upon returning home he became the
Consultant for the Ministry of Culture.
He was also a member of the UNESCO International
Association of Plastic Arts (AIAP).
Now he is an instructor at the Anatolian
University Faculty of Fine Arts Painting
Department in Eskisehir.
His large works, which consist of
symbols of ancient civilizations and
geometric elements, which are composed
on grained and mat texture painting
surfaces, draw attention as being
the products of modern minimalism.
