Mr. Caner Gurellier (26), a Turkish man traveling all over Japan from South to North,  arrived in Sapporo, Hokkaido on June 2nd. “A lot of kind Japanese people helped me, and I had a very nice trip,” said Mr. Gurellier.

He learned Japanese on his father's advice who had a Japanese friend. Now he is working as a tour guide in Istanbul. For some time he was hoping to visit Japan someday.

Since this year is “2003 the Year of Turkey in Japan,” he wished to contribute to the promotion of Turkey.

He left Kagoshima on April 25 and arrived to Hakodate on May 27. He stayed at youth hostels and cheap guest house and made friends along the way.

”When I arrived in Kagoshima, the owner of the guest house treated me to a lot of crabs. It was a very nice memory for me,” said Mr. Gurellier.

He is planning to arrive at Soya Point on June 6th. He wishes to write a book about Japan after finishing his trip.
