
OSAKA (AA) - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul attended the Friday inauguration of an exhibition entitled "Exhibition of Three Great Civilizations in Turkey : The Hittites, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires" in Osaka Museum.
The exhibition was opened by Mikasa Prince Tomohito.
Speaking in the ceremony, Gul said that the same exhibition was visited by almost 400 thousand people in Tokyo Arts Museum and Fukuoka Asian Arts Museum before as a part of the activities to mark the 2003 Year of Turkey in Japan.
Gul noted that the exhibition featured 207 works from 14 museums and included the Topkapi dagger.
The dagger had earlier been exhibited in the United States and Germany , Gul stated
Gul said that those artifacts which he defined as "open air museum" could only give a small idea about the historical and cultural heritage of Anatolia
The exhibition will remain open till February 16, 2004.
Gul and accompanying delegation will visit Kyoto on Saturday and depart from Japan on Sunday.
