SELIM TURAN (Istanbul,1915-Paris,1994)
In 1935 he attended the IDGSA Painting
Department. In 1938 he won the diploma
competition and went to Europe where
he made observations and investigations.
In 1947 he went to Paris under a scholarship
from the French government. For many
years he lived in Paris, where worked
at the Ranson Academy, the Fontainebleau
art school, and the Goetz Academy. He
is also interested in sculpture and
is among the generation who pioneered
abstract studies in modern Turkish painting.
